It has been twenty-two and a half hours since I have last cried, shoulders shaking, body rocking, slowly and quickly to a rhythm that could have been loneliness. It could have been loss or abandonment. Or the thought that I’m not good enough or he’ll never kiss me because I am not pretty.
You can take back what is yours. You can pluck lint from the carpet and tuck it into your pocket. As a person, you cry about many things and most of the time, you are unsure of why, but, in reality, the only way to explain it is by coming to terms with the fact that you are leaking, not unlike a faucet or a birthday party balloon, once used to hold the air from the lungs of your soulmate.
